Cadiz

It's the oldest continuously-inhabited city in Europe. I read somewhere that Julius Caesar was governor of the region at one time. And about the pronunciation, in Andalusian Spanish (the Spanish spoken in Southern Spain), people often don't pronounce the "z" n Cadiz.

And about the pronunciation, in Andalusian Spanish (the Spanish spoken in Southern Spain), people often don't pronounce the "z" n Cadiz. Locals are more likely to say, Cadi (without the z), unlike their northern counterparts (e.g. Madrid) which would make the "th" sound for the "z." So it would be"CADIIIII"
Here's a link about not pronouncing the c or z at the end of a word: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andalusian_Spanish#Phonological_features
